"If a
single loop of UNITRACK that sets up in minutes is good, a DOUBLE
loop that sets up in half the time is great!"
Introducing the new UNITRACK Double Track Plates, the modular track
sections that let you set up twice as much track in half the time
when compared to using standard ground level UNITRACK. These plates
work in the same manner as all other UNITRACK sections, simply snapping
together with the patented Unijoiners attached to the UNITRACK pieces
securely affixed to the plate. The plates can then be enhanced by
the hobbyist with the snap-in installation of side safety fences
and/or overhead catenary poles. While some modelers may want to
do some additional groundcover embellishment, the plates even have
simulated "ballast" in between the two lines of track!
With a dual
throttle power pack, the two lines of the Double Track Plate can
be separately controlled. The slow-moving freight can amble along
on one line while the express passenger train can speed by on
the other line.
Crowded for
railroading space and time? The Double Track Plates are most suitable
for a temporary set-up/take-down layout (possibly on the floor
or dining room table) in a simple oval configuration or variation
of an oval. The insertion of one or more of our Double Track Truss
Bridges can add some interest to the operation as well.
However,
the Double Track Plates are NOT limited to the application mentioned
above. The plates can be easily integrated with virtually all
other N scale UNITRACK pieces. At a recent exhibition, the staff
of KATO USA handsomely demonstrated how the plates could be used
with standard ground-level sections to create a very interesting
layout. For example, the plates may be utilized in the "suburban"
or "metropolitan" portion of a layout, where the safety
fencing and overhead poles would seem appropriate, while the single-track
sections are used in the outlaying countryside where a bit of
variation between the lines is common.
