60' Flat Cars
-
The Prototype |
Produced
by General Steel Castings (GSC) starting in 1956, this 60
Flat Car was a workhouse of tremendous value on dozens of railroads
throughout North America. Manufactured in Granite City, Illinois,
by GSC, the 60 Flat was often photographed carrying lumber,
wallboard, poles, and even other wrecked cars. Still in use today
by a number of railroads in different capacities, these versatile
cars span decades of service.

The Models |
Like many BLMA projects,
our research began with builder drawings, actual dimensions, and
thousands of photographs. Designed to be intricate yet durable,
and highly detailed but not highly expensive, these models provide
a great value for their exceptional execution of detail, paint and
varied schemes.
Along with
the fine-scale attention to detail you've come to know from BLMA
Models, these models ride on our 70-Ton ASF Ride Control trucks
and 33" Low-Profile, Metal Wheels! Furthermore, these models
feature body-mounted knuckle couplers for superb operation!
