Chesapeake & Ohio
AAR Standard 53' 6" Flat Car
In 1944 the War Production Board permitted
Chesapeake & Ohio to order 100 of these AAR standard 53'6" flat cars
from Ralston. The cars emerged from the factory in Ohio with the railroads full
name spelled out across the side. In later years, C&O switched to the so
called "for Progress" logo seen on this car. This became the standard
for virtually all C&O freight equipment. these cars were assigned numbers
80625-80724. Many survived well into the Chessie System era. this is the second
release from the joint venture between GHQ and deLuxe innovations. GHQ molds
the bodies from Brittania Pewter while deLuxe paints, letters and assembles
the finished cars.
