2 Bay Rib-Sided Covered Hopper
Rio Grande

Plastics, Grain, Cement, Sulfur, just about anything granulated traveled in covered hoppers. This two bay hopper is based on the 1932 design from ACF that was built by more than 10 different carbuilders and railroads from the mid 30's to the mid 60's. The Rio Grande cars here were built by ACF, and used primarily for cement. Some of these cars are still in use today, as photos reveal. There are cars in ballast and sand service, relettered MOW. These venerable cars have survived through DRGW and SP and now serve the UP as faithfully as ever.
