This 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola sports the typical 1982 ATSF paint scheme of the class CE-1 cabooses. The colors are red with white stripe and markings, and the circle-cross emblem in yellow. The caboose was used as the last car on freight trains. From this location the crew was able to observe conditions and initiate procedures to stop the train if necessary. Modernization in the 1960s included cushioned underframe, sealed windows, and electric generators.
