Built by Berwick Forge and Fabricating in December 1978, this 60’ Excess Height box car with double plug doors with waffle sides is yellow and runs on black Barber® Roller bearing trucks. All stenciling is black on the sides and variously black and white on the ends which have white hi-cube wrap-around bands. The white band across the top portion of the ends and the ‘Exceeds Plate F’ symbol stenciled on the side of the car designates this car as an excess height car. The “waffle” pattern indicates internal belt rails allowing for a damage free delivery. This design came about to accommodate the use of automated loading devices such as fork lifts. This design made stacking of tall appliance crates in the cars, such as those containing refrigerators more efficient.
