This 50' steel side, 15-panel, fixed end gondola is painted black and comes equipped with a silver pressure-fit low cover and Barber® Roller Bearing trucks. It is lettered in white with white herald. Built in November 1966 by Thrall Car Manufacturing of Chicago Heights, IL, car #89000 is the first car of a fleet of 84 covered gondolas painted black and lettered in white. This gondola carries the AAR designation GBSR, classifying it as suitable for mill trade, specially equipped with permanent racks to carry a specific product, and covered to protect cargo that could be damaged by the elements.
