General Steel Castings Corporation and N&W built this heavyweight depressed-center flat car with Buckeye trucks in January 1945. It is painted black with white lettering. This class F-1 flat car was numbered 70999 upon leaving the shop, but was renumbered to 70099 after delivery to N&W. The 250,000 lb capacity, heavy hauler is designed to handle oversized loads that are too tall for standard tunnel clearance or too heavy for standard flat car capacity. The depressed center design reduces the height of tall loads and lowers the center of gravity on heavy loads. To accommodate the heavy weights, 245,000 lb capacity, 3-axle Buckeye trucks were used.
