| This 56' general service tank car
rolled out of General American Transportation Company’s Hearn,
Texas shop in July 1962. An order of 50 were delivered to St. Paul,
Minnesota based Great Northern and were painted black with white
lettering and logo. The class DOT 111 A-100-W-1 tanker is identified
as a crude oil hauler, but for GN it has also hauled coconut and
soybean oils, and cresylic acid. Number GN 100013 has a 188,000
lb, 23,450 gallon capacity and is equipped with Barber® roller
bearing trucks. |
