This 40’ USRA steel box car with single door, Murphy roof, plate end, and vertical brake wheel was built in March 1929. When it was serviced in 1948, it was painted in this scheme of box car red with white lettering and orange and black logo. Though brought up to modern standards at that time, the vertical brake wheel was kept. W.I.F. 106 was part of a 100-car fleet which transported goods between Palm Beach, Florida and Havana, Cuba via railcar ferry. This route was closed down after Fidel Castro overthrew the Fulgencio Batista regime in 1959.
