This 40’ standard box car with single Youngstown door is painted black with white lettering and end print. The SP logos are red and yellow. SP 97950 was built in September 1946 by Mount Vernon Car Mfg. Company, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. It rolls on black Bettendorf trucks. The “Overnights” were all steel box cars with steel wheels instead of cast to travel at passenger train speeds. They carried less-than-car-load merchandise in coordination with storedoor pickup and delivery trucks.
