This 40’ standard box car with single door was built by Pullman Standard in September 1951. It is part of a 250 car fleet of that company’s PS-1’s. About half of the cars, like this one, were painted green with yellow door and lettering. The other half were painted in the opposite paint scheme. MEC 8217 was serviced and repainted in November 1963. It has a 110,000 lb capacity and rolls on Bettendorf trucks. Many of these cars were seen in the 1970s hauling freight with Boston & Maine.
