Baltimore & Ohio Road # 466096 40' Standard Box Car, Single Door Part #MTL-20256 Reprint Release Date: January 2001
With Americas zeal after its victory in WWII, B&O was one of several railroads that began painting their box cars in colorful schemes to attract the booming business of shippers. This 40 standard box car with single door, built in August 1945, is aluminum colored with blue under the eves and around the bottom. The lettering is in silver and dark blue. A colorful icon on the right indicates that this car is part of B&Os Sentinel Service. This system involved the teletype supervision of carloads from siding to siding rather than just from terminal to terminal. |
