Northern Pacific built this 40’ standard box car with plug door in October 1959. They painted it dark green with white lettering. The red ‘DF2’ marking on the door promises damage-free shipping. Though insulated like a refrigerator car, this class RBL car does not have ice bunkers or refrigeration units typical of reefers. It is part of a 100-car fleet, which is equipped with ceiling hooks for portable heaters and crossbar type loading devices. NP 98593 has a 100,000 lb capacity and rolls on Bettendorf trucks.
