This 50’ rib side box car with single door and without roofwalk was built at FMC’s Portland, Oregon shops in July 1979 and assigned to paper service. It is blue with black door and lettering in white. BM 80023 represents advancements in box car design into the 1970s. It has a 20” travel keystone cushioned underframe for better load bearing and a seamless interior to prevent vermin infestation. In addition, these class XM cars have a 15’ 6” height allowing them to qualify for ‘Plate C’ clearance.
