When this car rolled off the assembly line in July 1970, it marked the 200,000th car that Pullman Standard had built at Bessemer, AL. It is a 50 rib side box car, single door without roofwalk. Southern Railway painted it in this one-only blue, yellow and green paint scheme to celebrate their 140th year with Pullman Standard. The rest of this 1000 car run received the regular Southern freight car red scheme. When the railway was chartered in 1894, it acquired properties from Richmond Terminal which included lines in Virginia, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama. In 1983 Southern merged with Norfolk and Western to form Norfolk Southern. |
