This 40’ outside braced box car with single door was built in March 1921 and was painted box car red with white lettering. C.P. 230100 was specially equipped for grain service with hopper doors built into the floor. The car could also be adapted for normal service by covering the hopper doors from the inside. These doors were removed in the 1930s. 9,000 of these cars were built in 1921 and ’22, and though C.P. 230100 rolls on archbar trucks, many of them were later equipped with Bettendorf trucks and used for heavy duty service. They moved mining and oil drilling equipment as well as bricks and masonry.
