This 40' outside-braced box car with single door was built in July 1919. It was serviced in July 1934 and painted PRR iron sesquioxide with white lettering. The car is part of a 1,821-car fleet of class X26 boxes rated at 100,000 lb capacity with 3,098 cu ft of cargo space. The PRR found its earliest beginnings in 1815with the forming of the first of many small roads, which ultimately found their way into the Pennsy Empire - and found its end in the February 1968 merger with archrival NYC forming Penn Central. Two years later the merger ended in bankruptcy and the road was absorbed into the government-created Conrail.
