This
40' outside-braced box car with 1-1/2 doors was built in February
1928. The simple paint scheme includes a box car red body with white
lettering. Fifty of these NP auto-haulers were painted in this simple
scheme because NPs Orientally-styled Monad herald did not
fit between the outside bracing. The 80,000 lb capacity box rolls
on Bettendorf trucks. The NP finds its origins in a railroad charter
signed by Abraham Lincoln on July 2, 1864. The road was to connect
the Great Lakes and the Puget Sound. The St. Paul, Minnesota based
railroad became part of Burlington Northern in March 1970. |
