When built by American Car and Foundry in May 1957, this 50’ standard box car with single door was assigned to Chesapeake & Ohio freight service. In September 1958, NYC 92101 and one other car from this C&O group were repainted in this NYC experimental scheme of black roof and ends with blue sides and white lettering. A few months later, the two cars were repainted NYC Century green. The DF initials on the door indicate that this car offers damage free delivery service. The New York Central is a reorganization of New York Central & Hudson River, and other properties.
