ATSF 10001 is a one of a kind test car that led to the construction of 100 new 50' standard box cars with single door. The paint scheme includes ATSF red sides with black roof and ends and a large black and white ATSF circle-cross herald. This car was originally built in October 1954 as a class Bx-66. When it was rebuilt at Topeka, Kansas for test purposes in June 1958, it was equipped with a new cushioning system and reclassified as Bx-77. When the design was subsequently put into production, the new cars were classified as Bx-76.
