This 50’ box car with plug door was built in July 1960 by the General American Transportation Corporation. It is painted box car red with white lettering and logo. It rolls on black Bettendorf trucks. The XMEI classification designates this as an insulated class XM boxcar designed for merchandise loading. The arrival of large numbers of the insulated box cars not only took over much usage of refrigerator cars for non-cooled cargo, but actually expanded shipment of temperature-sensitive cargoes.
