American Car & Foundry built this 50' standard box car with plug door without roofwalk in April 1964. Originally, number 36857 wore Great Northern’s glacier green scheme with a large caricature of ‘Rocky the Goat.’ In April 1969, it was repainted big sky blue with white lettering on sides and ends. GN adopted this color scheme in 1967 after hiring a public relations firm to develop a modern image. This new combination was selected as a way to present the company in a more progressive light. On March 2, 1970, Great Northern merged with NP, SP&S, and CB&Q to form Burlington Northern. (released July 1978 as 32020)
