The Chesapeake & Ohio built this
40' double-sheathed wood box car with 1-1/2 doors at their shops
in Raceland, Kentucky in August 1925. The car was subsequently serviced
at the same ship in January 1946. It is painted box car red with
white stenciling. The 80,000 lb capacity box is equipped with archbar
trucks. The coal-hauling C&O had headquarters in both Richmond,
Virginia and Cleveland, Ohio. The railroad began life as the Louisa
Railroad in 1836. On August 31, 1987 the road merged into CSX Transportation.
