Western Pacific Road #W.P. 6610 50' Gondola, Fishbelly Sides with Drop Ends Part #MTL-46050 N Scale Supply Price: Reprint Release Date: August 2000
Number 6610 is a 50 gondola with fishbelly sides and drop ends and is one of a group of 200 cars built in 1950. It was painted black with white lettering on sides and ends. This 140,000 lb, 1752 cu ft capacity gondola was put into general service by Western Pacific. The railway was incorporated in 1903 building a line between Salt Lake City, UT, and San Francisco, CA. The last spike was driven on the Spanish Creek Trestle at Keddie, CA. The new road had no branches to feed it and, as a result, it entered bankruptcy in 1915, taking the Rio Grande with it.
