This Special Edition 50’ gondola with fishbelly sides and drop ends is dedicated to Smokey Bear’s maintenance of way needs. It is painted Forest Service green and is lettered in white. The paint scheme includes a multi-color Smokey logo. Also, the drop ends and trucks are aluminum colored. This class WA-19 gon has a 3,250 cu ft capacity and rolls on Bettendorf trucks. In 1950, after a black bear cub was saved from the flames of a Capitan Mountains, New Mexico fire, the U.S. Forest Service began using him to symbolize fire safety.
