Colorado based Tivoli Beer Company marketed its beer only within a 250 mile radius of its Denver home. Thus, to meet their transportation needs, they only required two of these 40’ double-sheathed wood reefers, with vertical brake wheel. The cars were built from blueprints dating from October 30, 1923 and painted box car red with bright green sides and black and white lettering. The scheme also included a large reproduction of Tivoli’s first post-prohibition bottle label. The 70,000 lb capacity car rolled on Bettendorf trucks and was built with a fishbelly underframe to support a full load of bottled beer.
