This 34’ wood sheathed caboose with straight cupola represents the units built for SP&S by Northern Pacific in 1910 and 1911. Ten such cabooses were built using underframes from NP’s own stock. Later, in 1959, the Vancouver shops rebuilt these cars using a Great Northern design standard. As a result, this series of cabooses were often mistaken as former G.N. units. The color scheme is red with black roof and printing in white. SP&S 724 survived the 1970 merger and went on to serve Burlington Northern under the road number BN 11003.
