This 60' 8" Thrall® Centerbeam Flat Car was built by Thrall Car Manufacturing Co., Chicago Heights, IL in March 1977. It was painted for the Milwaukee Road in yellow with black lettering and logo. The 198,000 lb capacity hauler is equipped with Barber® roller bearing trucks. The roads history is a bumpy one, but in spite of that, it is responsible for at least two innovations that changed railroading. The first refrigerator car was developed by employee Gustavus Swift, and the pontoon bridge was developed by employee, Michael Spettel, allowing the railroad to cross the Mississippi River with ease.
