When Smokey wanted to replant burned out forest land, this 33’ twin bay hopper with offset sides was commissioned. It is painted light gray with dark brown lettering on sides and ends. A slogan reflecting America’s sentiment is prominently displayed on the side. It includes a multi-colored Smokey and a large red heart. The side marking ‘for woodland planting service only’ identifies #SBX 72000 as a seed-hauling car. At 2081 cu ft capacity it is capable of hauling up to 100,000 lbs of seedlings for reforestation. After being orphaned by a New Mexico Forest fire, Smokey was embraced by America as a symbol of forest fire prevention.
