Bethlehem Steel built this 33’ twin bay hopper with rib sides in June 1947. It is painted with the road’s ‘Fast Freight’ scheme in Western Maryland oxide red—including the truck sideframes, coupler knuckles, and stirrups. The lettering is white. This scheme was in use from the 1930s to the 1950s. The class HM hopper has a 2,028 cu ft, 110,000 lb capacity and rolls on Bettendorf trucks. The WM began in 1852 with the charter of the Baltimore, Carroll & Frederick Railroad which built a line from Baltimore, northwest through Westminster, and west toward Hagerstown.
