This 33' twin bay hopper with rib sides was built in August 1919 by the American Car and Foundry at Berwick, Pennsylvania. It was painted for the Lehigh Valley Railroad in black with white lettering and logo. The 1,880 cu ft, 110,000 lb capacity hopper is equipped with Andrews trucks. Number LV 27432 was used to haul coal, the major source of revenue for the LV. With the amount of this commodity that the LV moved, it quickly earned the nickname, Route of the Black Diamond.
