This 33 twin bay hopper with composite sides is painted hopper red with white sides and end lettering. The square Burlington Route logo is white lettering on a black box. Built in July 1942 and serviced in Havelock, Nebraska in March 1959, CB&Q 194328 was an answer to the steel shortage during World War II. Its composite design, developed by the AAR, employed wood sides with steel bracing. There were 990 of these cars numbered into the #194000-194999 series still in service in 1961. Many were shopped in Havelock in 59 & 60 and were given their Mineral Red or Chinese Red schemes with the new Block Gothic lettering.
