| This 50’ composite
gondola drop ends with fishbelly sides is painted ATSF mineral brown with a white
logo and lettering and runs on mineral brown Bettendorf trucks. ATSF 176677 was
built in July 1943 and serviced in April of 1952 at the Topeka, Kansas shop. The
Atchison & Topeka Railroad was chartered in 1859 to join the cities of Atchison
and Topeka then planned to continue southwest toward Santa Fe. “Santa Fe” was
added to the corporate name in 1863. |
