39' Single Dome Tank Car

This 39’ single dome tank car was built in the 1930s or ’40s. It is painted black with white lettering. In April 1979, Western Pacific put it into maintenance of way service. The 80,000 lb capacity tank car is equipped with Bettendorf trucks. The WP was chartered in 1903 to link Salt Lake City, Utah to San Francisco, California. In 1983, the road joined Union Pacific and Missouri Pacific in a 3-way merger. Today, remnants remain in California subsidiaries: Sacramento Northern, Tidewater Southern, and Alameda Belt railroads.
