Around noon we caught a glimpse of an unusual engine, UP GP40X #957 leading UP SD60 #6016. This train was seriously underpowered. After pulling into the Helper yard they prepared to cut in three Rio Grande Tunnel Motors to push it up the hill. These two engines needed to pull the train forward a few cars lengths, after several minutes of struggling they had moved about 30 feet. The tunnel motors definitely pushed most of the train up the hill. | ||
