1944 40' AAR Box Car

Union Pacific built a lot of cars at their Omaha shops. This class, lot B-50-41, was one of the largest ever built for UP, 3500 cars. As their regular service lives came to an end, many were transferred into Maintenance of Way Service. Assigned a purpose (tool car, etc.) and hastily renumbered, these cars would live out their days in the heavy, dirty, noisy business of track and signal maintenance. Because they rarely left home rails, they would usually keep their roof walks and friction bearing trucks decades after revenue cars lost theirs. For maximum realism, weather these cars -- a lot!
