The Soo Line was formed by a group of Minneapolis grain moguls tired of the price gouging of the local railroads. Controlled for most of its life by Canadian Pacific in an attempt to head off western expansion of arch rival Grand Trunk, the Minneapolis St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie (Soo Line's real name) would consolidate with Wisconsin Central (no, not the current one) and DSS&A and would make its official name SOO LINE in 1961. These ACF design covered hoppers were delivered in more than one batch with a color change between. The paint schemes here reflect the "as delivered" version.
