This 40’ standard box car with single Youngstown door is painted UP Synthetic Red and sports the red, white and blue UP shield. This car is lettered in white and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. UP 198850 was built by UP in 1947. Two thousand cars were built in this series and by the mid-1960s were progressively equipped with sidewall lading anchors. As was the practice with cars painted after 1962, the “Ship and Travel” slogan was painted on this car at the time of its service in January, 1965.
