This
40’ standard box car with single sliding door is painted brown
with white lettering and black, yellow and white
logo. It was built in January 1943, serviced in March 1959 and
runs on Bettendorf trucks. The Norfolk Southern
Railway ran from Norfolk, VA southwest and west to Charlotte,
NC under the Norfolk Southern name from 1910 to
1974 when it was acquired by the Southern Railway. The Southern
was merged with the Norfolk and Western Railway
in 1990 to form the current entity of the Norfolk Southern Railway.
