This
40’ standard box car with single door is painted gold over silver
with the black ends ‘Flying’ Rio Grande road name.
Lettering is in black and white. It was built in February 1942,
serviced in march 1959 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This
series was identical to the earlier cars except for their steel
running boards and the use of Superior seven-panel sliding doors.
Although used to haul anything and everything, a few cars were
stenciled for assigned service hauling lead, zinc, or copper bullion.
