This yellow 50’ rib side box car with single
door and no roofwalk has black doors, the blue & yellow “Next Load…Any
Road” logo black lettering and runs on black roller bearing trucks. The American
Rail Box Company, as a subsidiary of Trailer Train Company, formed to own and
operate this pool and help alleviate the box car supply and utilization problems.
In the mid 1980s, Railbox sold much of their fleet to several class l railroads
including Santa Fe, Southern®, Southern Pacific®, Seaboard System®,
Union Pacific®, Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac and the Missouri Pacific®
who added their own identifying reporting marks and new numbers while retaining
the bright yellow Railbox paint scheme.
