This 50’ box car from series 87455 - 87669 was built by the NYC Despatch Shops in East Rochester, NY. It bears the “SL” insignia on the Youngstown doors which designates its as being used for Frigidaire (appliance) service. It runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. New York Central primarily connected greater New York and Boston in the east with Chicago and St.Louis in the midwest along with the intermediate cities of Albany, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit.
