| This 50’ standard box car with
plug door and no roofwalk is painted yellow with aluminum roof
and ends. It bears the red, white and blue UP shield with the
company’s 1970s era slogan ‘WE CAN HANDLE IT’ in red. Lettering
is in black and red. The car was built in February 1964, serviced
in May 1976, and runs on Barber® Roller Bearing trucks. Cars
in this series were originally built by the UP at the Omaha Shops
in February 1964 and numbered in the 499900 series. They were
serviced and renumbered into the 492801-492970 series in May 1976.
During the 1970s, UP began applying the ‘We Can Handle It’ slogan
to their freight. |
