This
50’ gondola with fishbelly sides, drop ends and a crushed metal
load is painted box car red with white logo and lettering. It
was built in August 1944, serviced in September 1964, and runs
on Bettendorf trucks. The Wabash served the heart of America (nine
states and the Province of Ontario). Major centers included Omaha,
Des Moines, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Decatur, Fort Wayne,
Toledo, Detroit and Buffalo. In order to shorten the journey between
Detroit and Buffalo the Wabash cut across southern Ontario for
some 250 miles.
