This 39’ single dome tank is painted aluminum, has black “Alaska Railroad” lettering, yellow “Journal Oil” stenciling and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Begun in 1903, the Alaska Railroad was finally completed in 1923, and has survived financial and natural disasters to remain one of the two operating railroads in Alaska. Today “The ties that bind Alaska,” the Alaska Railroad, is a state owned, for profit corporation and the last full service railroad in the USA, providing both passenger and freight service. |
