These
39’ single dome tank cars are painted black with white herald
and lettering. They were built in November 1942 byGeneral American
Tank Car, serviced in July 1970, and run on Bettendorf trucks.
The ‘S’ in the white diamond on the dome
indicates these tank cars are assigned to shipping liquid sugar;
but as years went by, cars from this series found themselvescarrying
other loads, such as diesel fuel or oil while still retaining
the original dome marking.
