This
39’ single dome tank car is painted black with white logo and
lettering. It was built in September 1917 by American
Car & Foundry of Milton, PA, and runs on Archbar trucks.
The Pacific Whaling Company (later the American Pacific Whaling
Company) opened the only whaling station in the Aleutian Islands
in 1912. It operated until 1939, then was leased to the U.S.
Navy between 1942 until 1945 as a midway fueling, provisioning
and repair station.
