This 50’ wagon top box car
with double doors is iron sesqui-oxide with white herald and lettering
and runs on Coil Elliptic trucks. Built in 1937, as part of series 48300-49299,
the Pennsylvania Railroad’s “Round Roof” series of cars were used mainly
for hauling automobiles and were designed with a new 10’ internal height
clearance. To clear the low tunnel and stone bridge arches common in
the east, the roofs were curved at the sides.
