Built by
Pullman-Standard and part of Pullman’s Center Discharge line
of covered hoppers known as PS2CDs, this 4427 cu ft. design
was Pullman-Standard’s earliest mass-produced 100-ton grain
car. This PS-2 covered hopper is painted dark brown and displays
BNSF lettering and the small ‘Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway’
circle cross in white. This 100 ton, 4427 cu. ft. covered grain
hopper was numbered into series #417182-417579. Hoppers from
this series were re-built in October 2000 and re-painted in
October 2005. Barley and petroleum coke are the primary commodities
of these hoppers.
